I had discovered Chinese Medicine back in 2003 at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and was first treated for allergies with acupuncture. Years later when I was married and expecting our first child, my wife developed issues during the pregnancy, including gestational diabetes. Her main complaint was that she had felt tingling and numbness in her hands and feet and asked me to massage her. I had no experience since I was working in a completely different field. Never the less, I tried as best I could and after awhile, I developed an ability to feel just how severe or how far the sensation traveled up her arms and legs. Due to other reasons, we began to use traditional Chinese medicine in her third trimester which lead to a healthy baby boy and a solid recovery.
I brought this to my family’s attention and my parents reminded me that I had come from a long line of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners. With their encouragement and the support of my wife, I enrolled at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and have never looked back. As we had our second child, my wife, Donna, began treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine from the very beginning of the pregnancy which we feel was a strong factor in a healthy pregnancy and baby. This also was a factor in avoiding some of the issues in the prior pregnancy.
